The Cyprus High Commission in the UK invites you to a private viewing of the photography exhibition “Ύδωρ – Hudor” by Cypriot photographer Marina Antoniou.
Marina Antoniou captures water (‘ydor’) in different forms. She photographs icebergs in Antarctica and Greenland, lakes in Galapagos, the crystal waters of the Mediterranean sea in Venice, Greece and Cyprus and lava beaches in Iceland. She presents aerial photos of the Amazon rainforest and snowstorm in the Alps. She photographs water as the natural habitat of whales, penguins and of an undiscovered sea life that human action is putting at risk. Through her exhibition, Marina invites us to re-evaluate our presence in the world and reflect on the urgent need to protect the primary and most essential source of life: Ydor.

Marina Antoniou studied photography at Central Saint Martins. Marina participated in photo exhibitions in New York, London, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Haarlem, Wales and Cambridge University. She received numerous awards including four times the Citi Arts Club ‘People Choice Photo Award’ and the ‘Julia Margaret Cameron’ distinction. Her work was included in the Barcelona Biennial of Fine Arts & Photography and at the University of Warwick. Through her Arctic whales photography, Marina collaborated with the ‘Greenland Institute of Natural Resources’. Marina published five photography books. Her books form part of University Libraries and her work was selected for inclusion in photography publications in the US.
