Επίδοση Διαπιστευτηρίων του νέου Μόνιμου Αντιπροσώπου της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον Διεθνή Ναυτιλιακό Οργανισμό (ΙΜΟ)
Ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο Δρ. Κυριακός Κούρος επέδωσε 9 Μαΐου 2024, στον Γενικό Γραμματέα του Διεθνούς Ναυτιλιακού Οργανισμού (ΙΜΟ, International Maritime Organization) κ. Arsenio Dominguez, τα διαπιστευτήριά του ως ο νέος Μόνιμος Αντιπρόσωπος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον ΙΜΟ, στην έδρα του Οργανισμού στο Λονδίνο.
Κατά την επίδοση των διαπιστευτηρίων, ο Μόνιμος Αντιπρόσωπος διαβίβασε στον Γενικό Γραμματέα τους θερμούς χαιρετισμούς του Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας, εκφράζοντας την πλήρη στήριξή του στο έργο που επιτελεί ο ΙΜΟ και τη βεβαιότητα για συνέχιση της αγαστής συνεργασίας της Μόνιμης Αντιπροσωπείας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον Οργανισμό. Ενημέρωσε δε τον Γενικό Γραμματέα για την παρούσα φάση στο Κυπριακό και τις προσπάθειες του Προέδρου Χριστοδουλίδη για επανέναρξη των συνομιλιών προς επίλυση του κυπριακού προβλήματος και την επανένωση της Κύπρου.
Ο Γενικός Γραμματέας του ΙΜΟ, αφού καλωσόρισε κ. Κούρο, του ευχήθηκε κάθε επιτυχία στη διεκπεραίωση της διπλωματικής του αποστολής και τον ευχαρίστησε για την παραδειγματική συνεργασία μεταξύ του Οργανισμού και της Κύπρου, χαρακτηρίζοντας την Κύπρο ως σημαντικό εταίρο. Κατά τη διάρκεια της συνάντησης αμφότερες πλευρές επιβεβαίωσαν τη βούλησή τους για ενδυνάμωση των σχέσεων της Κύπρου με τον Διεθνή Ναυτιλιακό Οργανισμό.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) presented his credentials
The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Kingdom, Dr. Kyriacόs Kouros, presented on 9 May 2024, to the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, his credentials as the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the IMO, during a private meeting at the Organization’s headquarters in London.
At the meeting, the Permanent Representative conveyed to the Secretary General the warm greetings of the President of the Republic, expressing his full support for the work carried out by the IMO and the certainty of the continuation of the cordial cooperation of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus in the Organization. He also informed the Secretary General about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the efforts of President Christodoulides to revive the talks for the resolution of the Cyprus problem and the reunification of Cyprus.
The IMO Secretary General, welcomed Mr Kouros and wished him every success in carrying out his diplomatic mission and thanked him for the exemplary cooperation between IMO and Cyprus, characterizing Cyprus as an important partner. During the meeting, both sides confirmed their will to strengthen relations between Cyprus and the International Maritime Organization.
