The Cyprus High Commission in the United Kingdom is pleased to invite you to the exhibition The Constellations We Make by Anna Lytridou.
Anna Lytridou’s solo exhibition and site-specific installation The Constellations We Make gives the viewer the opportunity to reflect on concepts of time, location and space by inviting them to take a physical and visual journey in and around the disparate elements of her immersive installations. Lytridou is interested in how perception and memory affect our behaviour and engagement with the spaces that surround us, whether we are in man-made constructions or picturesque landscapes.
Her work challenges traditional modes of engagement with the landscape throwing the viewer back on their instincts for navigation. Her tendency for using contrasting textures such as metal with fabrics or stitching different fabrics together comes from a desire to allow the materials to guide her and to give answers to questions that arise during her practice. In the installations the metal structures function both as drawings in space and as framing devices for the paintings hung within them.

Η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία της Κύπρου στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο σας προσκαλεί στην έκθεση σύγχρονης τέχνης The Constellations We Make της Άννας Λυτρίδου.
Η ατομική έκθεση και εικαστική εγκατάσταση της Άννας Λυτρίδου The Constellations We Make δίνει στον επισκέπτη την ευκαιρία να αναλογιστεί τις έννοιες του χρόνου, της τοποθεσίας και του χώρου, προσκαλώντας τον σε ένα βιωματικό οπτικό και σωματικό ταξίδι διαμέσου των ξεχωριστών στοιχείων της εγκατάστασής της. Η Λυτρίδου εξετάζει πώς η αντίληψη και η μνήμη επηρεάζουν τη συμπεριφορά και τη διάδρασή μας με τον χώρο γύρω μας, είτε πρόκειται για τεχνητά είτε για φυσικά τοπία.
Το έργο της ανασκευάζει παραδοσιακές μορφές εμπειρίας του τοπίου, ανακαλώντας αρχέγονα ένστικτα πλοήγησης. Η τάση της να χρησιμοποιεί αντίθετες υφές, όπως μέταλλο με υφάσματα ή συρραφή διαφορετικών υφασμάτων, προέρχεται από μια ορμή να αφήσει τα ίδια τα υλικά να την κατευθύνουν, δίνοντας μόνα τους απαντήσεις στα ερωτήματα που προκύπτουν κατά τη δημιουργική διαδικασία. Στις εγκαταστάσεις οι μεταλλικές δομές λειτουργούν τόσο ως σχέδια στον χώρο όσο και ως πλαίσιο για τους πίνακες που αναρτώνται ανάμεσά τους.
