Μήνυμα του Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας κ. Νίκου Χριστοδουλίδη
Συμπατριώτες, Συμπατριώτισσες,
Υπό το φως των γεγονότων, επέλεξα να απευθυνθώ σε όλους εσάς, για να σάς ενημερώσω απευθείας για όσα διαδραματίστηκαν χθες βράδυ.
Στις 00:03 τα μεσάνυχτα μη επανδρωμένο αερόχημα τύπου Shahed προσέκρουσε εντός των στρατιωτικών εγκαταστάσεων των Βρετανικών Βάσεων στο Ακρωτήρι, προκαλώντας μικρές υλικές ζημιές.
Από την πρώτη στιγμή όλες οι αρμόδιες Υπηρεσίες της Δημοκρατίας βρίσκονται σε εγρήγορση και πλήρη επιχειρησιακή ετοιμότητα. Την ίδια στιγμή, συγκάλεσα αμέσως το Συμβούλιο Εθνικής Ασφαλείας για αξιολόγηση της κατάστασης, το οποίο παραμένει σε συνεχή διαβούλευση.
Ταυτόχρονα, για τις εξελίξεις είμαι σε συνεχή επαφή με όλους τους Ευρωπαίους ηγέτες και ηγέτες άλλων κρατών.
Κυρίες και Κύριοι,
Βρισκόμαστε σε μια περιοχή ιδιαίτερης γεωπολιτικής αστάθειας με πολλές προκλήσεις και προβλήματα, η οποία διέρχεται μια πρωτοφανή κρίση.
Θέλω να είμαι σαφής: Η πατρίδα μας δεν μετέχει με οιονδήποτε τρόπο και ούτε προτίθεται να αποτελέσει μέρος οποιασδήποτε στρατιωτικής επιχείρησης.
Παραμένουμε προσηλωμένοι στον ανθρωπιστικό ρόλο, τον οποίο υπηρετήσαμε όλο αυτό το διάστημα, πάντοτε ως μέρος της λύσης και όχι του προβλήματος, και θα συνεχίσουμε να λειτουργούμε με την ίδια υπευθυνότητα.
Πράττουμε ό,τι πρέπει με πρώτιστο μέλημά μας την Ασφάλεια της χώρας και των πολιτών.

Message by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides
Fellow compatriots,
In light of recent events, I have decided to address you all directly to inform you on the events that have transpired last night.
At midnight (00:03), a Shahed-type unmanned aircraft impacted the United Kingdom military Base Area of Akrotiri, causing minor material damage.
From the outset, all relevant authorities of the Republic of Cyprus have remained on high alert and in full operational readiness. At the same time, I have immediately convened the National Security Council to assess the situation at hand. The National Security Council remains in continuous consultation.
Concurrently, I remain in constant contact with all European leaders and leaders of other countries regarding developments.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We are in a region of particular geopolitical instability, facing many challenges and difficulties. The region is currently facing an unprecedented crisis.
I wish to be clear: our country is not involved in any way and does not intent to be part of any military operation.
We remain committed to the humanitarian role we have upheld thus far, always as part of the solution and never as part of the problem, and we will continue to operate with the same level of responsibility.
Our actions are guided by our commitment to the safety of this country and its citizens.
